Friday's Featured Child

It has been awhile since we have posted a Friday's Featured Child and it seemed that the "Valentine's Season" was the perfect time to start again. While everyone is so focused on love, gift buying and making the perfect restaurant reservation, why not focus on a little boy who could use the love of a sponsor? Victor is 6 years old and is the youngest of the largest group of siblings at the orphanage. He and his 3 older brothers came to the home a few years ago when they were removed from their family by the government. They had been living in the biggest garbage dump in Guatemala City and the family, including the boys, made a living by digging in the dump for items to sell. Victor is an outgoing, explosive (in a good way!) little boy. Director Jorge Mario said it best, "If you don't know Victor, you don't know Casa Shalom!" His smile and hugs are heart-warming and he isn't shy about sharing either with visitors at Casa Shalom. Victor tells me often that he looks forward to having a sponsor because he wants to get mail! Having a sponsor would make a huge difference in the life of a sweet little boy who is excited about getting letters. For $30 per month, you can help Casa Shalom provide Victor with nutritious food, a good education, medicine, clothes and shoes and fun trips outside the orphanage. If you would like to become Victor's sponsor, please email us at: TheHansonsinGuatemala@gmail.com
Photos: Victor is proud of his 2 missing teeth and but doesn't always put his shorts on straight. Update: A family has stepped forward to become Victor's sponsors! Watch next Friday for another child that needs a sponsor.
